SEATTLE — Along the tree-lined streets of Seattle’s Washington Park neighborhood sits a home for sale so striking it should be put in a frame.
"This house is called the 'Art Haus.' It's called the 'Art Haus' because it was designed for the art within it. I like to think of it as a piece of artwork itself," said Shawna Ader, a broker with Windermere Real Estate. "People see a very unique set of materials that was used to build the home. Everything was handpicked. They were sourced from all of the world."
Once you walk in you know this home is one of a kind.
"They call this room the gallery. It's got lots of artwork in it and a huge two-story atrium above us and that is mirrored in the floor in the floating walkway," said Ader. "These areas of the house were designed to be really flexible. You can have a living space, we have a dining space. It was really built for entertaining. The windows are floor-to-ceiling so you get a ton of western light."
Tucked just off the gallery room is the home's streamlined kitchen.
"It's a euro-kitchen, very sleek, very minimalist with a deceptive amount of storage. You got a high-end appliance package with Meile and under cabinet lighting.” said Ader. "I think one of the best things about the kitchen is you have this floor-to-ceiling window at the end of it and you have an outdoor kitchen right outside."
On the second-floor catwalk, you can access the sleeping areas including the expansive primary suite.
"The primary suite was designed to be four different spaces. There's a sitting area, there's a primary sleeping area or bedroom which has another set of floor-to-ceiling windows. You have your primary bathroom which includes a steam shower and a beautiful soaking tub."
The place also comes with a home theater, two offices of different levels and a sitting room you may never want to leave.
"You have almost a half-acre property surrounded by trees, in fact, there's a large parks property on the west side that buffers you from Lake Washington Boulevard and you get to take advantage of all that shade in the summertime," said Ader. "You really do feel like you're in a glass box in the middle of Seattle surrounded by trees with complete privacy."
It may have been built to display art, but whoever buys this Washington Park property will feel like they are living in a work of art as well.
"I've never seen anything like it before and I doubt I'll see anything like it again," Alder said.
The Art Haus is currently on the market for $5.5 million.
