Using Facebook, real estate agent Michelle Calkins McLean recruited 600 volunteers to surprise a Tacoma family with a home makeover.
"This project was really about being there emotionally for someone," said McLean. "They've had a really hard year. For the last five years, they've been through some traumatic events. They just needed a new starting point."
Volunteers cleaned the house, mowed the lawn, bought new furniture and filled the refrigerator with food.
Danielle Schneider-Jones and her kids walked through the home, stunned by all the changes. She said the house feels peaceful now. She wanted to hug everyone involved and promised to pay it forward.
"We're going to give it back as much as we've gotten it as much as possible," said Schneider-Jones. "Thank you so much! We needed this."
McLean surprised another Tacoma family with a home makeover this past December.
