SEATTLE -- No one is closer to the Mariners than Shannon Drayer. She's the ultimate Mariners insider, on the baseball beat for more than a decade.
Shannon is a sports journalist for 710 ESPN and covers the M's year-round and knows them better than almost anyone.
Her broadcasting career starting brewing back in 1998 when she entered a radio contest and landed a part-time gig.
Drayer says her job with the Mariners' on-air team has been a chance to learn from the best. But one member of the family is missing, long time announcer Dave Neihaus, who passed away in 2010. "It was an absolute pleasure to work with him," says Drayer, "I miss him every day. The conversations we would have before games are conversations I'll never forget."
Shannon Drayer took a swing at a career and broadcasting, and she hit it out of the park.
