Tree houses, ocean hikes and the best whale watching spot: more Best Northwest Escapes winners

Three quintessential Pacific Northwest experiences.
Orcas and Mt. Baker in the distance

Your pick for Best Quirky Place to Stay is repeat winner TreeHouse Point near Issaquah, where you can 'be in a tree' and take your pick from one of 6 tree houses. You might even glimpse owner and Treehouse Masters star Pete Nelson if you’re lucky.

For Best Adventure, you picked Hiking the Wilderness Coast. 73 miles along the most remote coastline in the lower 48, there is no other hike like it. If you want a shorter version of the same, Best Short Hike is the 4-mile round trip trek down Rialto Beach to Hole in the Wall. Do it at low tide and you will be able to walk through the rock feature that gives that hike its name.

Voting for Best Bucket List Experience just closed today -- and the votes say all of you want to see whales. The winner is Whale Watching in the San Juan islands. The San Juans are special because not only can you go on boat tours to see whales, you might even glimpse them from land: Lime Kiln Point State Park on San Juan Island is considered one of the best land-based whale watching places in the world.

The 2018 Best Northwest Escapes contest is sponsored by Washington's Playground.
