The Space Needle transformed into a giant fireworks launching pad as Seattle rang in 2019 at midnight. KING 5's Team Evening hosted the exclusive live TV broadcast of T-Mobile New Year’s at the Needle.
This year, for the first time ever, a spectacular 30-minute, choreographed light show kicked off the festivities at 10 p.m. Cutting-edge lighting equipment was installed on the Space Needle to light up both sky and structure with brilliant color and beams of light. Watch the full show here.
The same lighting effects were also incorporated into the innovative 10-minute fireworks display that started at midnight.
Partygoers inside the Space Needle were the first to watch the fireworks launch underfoot as they observed from The Loupe, the Space Needle's (and the world's first) revolving glass floor.
THE 2019 PLAYLIST - GIRLS RUN THE WORLD
The music to accompany the fireworks and the entry of 2019 is made up of influential female artists who have inspired and empowered people around the world:
