SEATTLE — You can find her at a studio session, where she is currently working on her latest album. For Skye Dior words are extremely important when it comes to writing. Her lyrics need to mean something, it's not just about making the next catchy song.
“My music has a lot of different types of meanings and just different types of energy,” said Dior. “[I] First started with poetry.”
You can feel her presence on stage - full of energy, with an infectious, colorful personality. Which helped her build fandom and even win awards, including “Soul Café’s” Best Young Rising Star, the Best Youth Hip-Hop Entertainer award 2020 to from Community Outreach, and also a certificate for best stage presence, 2023 from Speak with Purpose.
“If you don't try then how [do] you really know that you can do it,” said Dior. “It does take time, I can most definitely say that.”
Some popular song includes “Clap” which is about having aa good time with friends.
“I guess it's just like a groove, it's about clapping your hands, and dancing and having fun,” Dior said.
At only 11 years old, she already has a vison of where she wants to be with her musical career and is ready to take the challenge.
“I want to be known for rapping and doing something else powerful and meaningful,” Dior said.
Skye Dior is now set to release for latest album this summer entitled “Adjectives.”
