In my wellness era! 💪 Trying 3 new workouts! | Local Lens Seattle

I am in my #WellnessEra. I wanted to kick this year off trying new things. So here are three workout classes worth the sweat!

SEATTLE — I tackled three new workout classes 🧘‍♀️🚴🏼 in the Seattle area that I think are worth the sweat. After doing these fitness classes, I highly recommend them ALL for different reasons. PLUS, I am just so glad I took a chance and tried something new!

I also want to point out this emphasis on my heart health and overall wellness is thanks to American Heart Association (AHA). I have been nominated as their ‘Women of Impact’ for 2024. My goal is to spread awareness around cardiovascular health. If you want to get involved, you can join my team here or donate to the cause.

AHA notes adults should participate in 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity each week. Walking is great for moderate levels of activity.

Class 1- Rowdy Box 🥊

The first class I tried—Rowdy Box—was totally out of my comfort zone, but I will definitely be going back. The boxing style gym has dim lights, a DJ/club feel and a wonderfully fun atmosphere. You can expect 50% boxing, 50% lifting. The class I went to focused on arms and I brought my friend Olivia along for the ride.

Owners Sami and Brandon are amazing and I am hooked.

Address: 1918 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA

Class 2- Shred at Studio 3 👟

The next class Olivia and I went to was in Lower Queen Anne at Studio 3. This studio features five fitness class styles including cycle, yoga and interval training. We went to the class called ‘Shred.’ Olivia has been obsessed with this class for a while and turned me onto it.

First of all, the studio is infrared- heated at 90 degrees. This feels SO amazing, especially during these cold winter months. The class is focused on several different series that tackle a particular area. Starting with abs/core, hips, arms, lower body and strength. When I tell you this class is my new obsession I am not lying.

Our instructor Moses was so knowledgeable and fabulous. I also recommend grabbing a smoothie from their ‘Blended’ shop. Pro tip: pre-order ahead of your workout so it's ready when you leave. Try this class for two weeks at $10 when you mention Local Lens and this video.

Address: 229 Queen Anne Avenue N, Seattle, WA

Class 3- The Row House 🏋️‍♀️

Finally, I met up with my friend Grace for the last leg of these workout buddy series of classes. We headed to ‘The Row House’ in West Seattle. I actually have some experience on ‘ergs’ (rowing machine) as I was a coxswain in high school. Shout out to Sammamish Rowing club!

Grace was a first timer, but our instructor Susan made both of us feel so comfortable. The atmosphere, energy and welcoming vibes were amazing as soon as we entered the studio. I talked with some people who were doing two classes in a row with Susan- they love her that much!

What you can expect: a high-energy, music-driven group class combining rowing intervals with floor-based strength exercises. It’s a low-impact, cardio enhancing full body workout. Our class was filled with people of all ages, which was incredible to see. Your first class is free if you want to give it a try!

Address- 4203 SW Oregon Street, Seattle, WA

I hope this video inspires you to try something new or get out to a workout class. Let me know some of your favorites and, who knows, you might see me there next time. 😊
