SEATTLE — An unprecedented leg injury forced Seattle Sounders player Steve Zakuani to leave the field at the height of his career in 2011. After nine surgeries and severe nerve damage, Steve Zakuani returned to the Seattle Sounders FC in 2012. On February 9.
Today, Zakuani and executive producer Dan Price join New Day Northwest to talk about their new documentary “Unbreakable”, which recounts Zakuani's career and recovery for the worst injury in the history of Major League Soccer.
The documentary begins by looking at Zakuani’s start in inner-city London and focuses heavily on his recovery. Just under a year and a half after his injury Zakuani was back on the soccer field, playing for the Sounders throughout the 2012 season. He briefly played for the Portland Timbers before retiring as a Sounder in 2013.
