The movie opens today! To celebrate, Queen Anne's Tin Lizzie Lounge shows us how to make Cocktails that reflect the style and era of our favorite period drama.

SEATTLE — The Downton Abbey movie opens in theaters today, and we are pretty excited about it.  To help us celebrate, Isaac Vicknair from Queen Anne's Tin Lizzie Lounge is showing us how to mix the perfect period-correct cocktails from the Official Downton Abbey Cocktail Book:

  • New York Sour (non-alcoholic)
  • Last Word
  • Corpse Reviver No 2
  • The Cheerful Charlies

See you at the movies!

Last Word

  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) gin
  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) maraschino liqueur
  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) green Chartreuse
  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) fresh lime juice
  • Lime wheel, for garnish

Combine the gin, maraschino liqueur, Chartreuse, and lime juice in a shaker.

Add ice, shake hard for 8-10 seconds, and strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.

Garnish with the lime wheel.

Cheerful Charlie

  • 1/2 fl oz (15 ml) rye whiskey or high-rye Canadian whiskey
  • 1/2 fl oz (15 ml) Cognac
  • 1 fl oz (30 ml) dry vermouth
  • 1/2 fl oz (15 ml) orange liqueur
  • 1/2 fl oz (15 ml) Campari

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until well chilled, 20-30 seconds.

Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.

New York Sour (Non-Alcoholic)

  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) simple syrup
  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • About 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) seltzer water)
  • About 1 fl oz (30 ml) claret

Combine the simple syrup and lemon juice in a shaker.

Add ice, shake hard for 8-10 seconds, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Top with the seltzer, then float with the claret, poured carefully  on the back of the spoon to create a red layer.

Corpse Reviver

  • 3/4 fl oz (20 mil) gin
  • 3/4 fl oz (20 mil) Cocchi Americano
  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) orange liqueur
  • 3/4 fl oz (20 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 dashes absinthe

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker.

Add ice, shake hard for 8-10 seconds, and strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
