Job-ready makeovers mark the start of a new life for 60+ Seattle men

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission offered the 2-day event, with clothing, barbers and even a job fair. #newdaynw

SEATTLE — Barry Willis was just one of 60+ men who got a physical makeover to help line up with all the work he’s been doing on the inside. Willis and others were part of Suit Up For Success.

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission teamed up with community partners across the greater Seattle area to give more than 60 men in their long-term recovery program a “job-ready” makeover.

With the help of the area’s top stylists, men on the path to recovery received total makeovers, including a new outfit, haircut and shave. They then attended a job fair and received resume assistance, practiced mock interviews, and networked with local businesses, offering them valuable opportunities to begin a new chapter in their lives.

Suit Up for Success celebrates the remarkable progress of men in recovery and marks the start of their new lives after struggling with addiction and homelessness. To break the cycle, the Mission addresses root causes including long-term recovery programs and comprehensive aftercare support, including housing assistance, continuing education, community building opportunities, job training and more.
