Theatre Battery, located in Kent, takes on social issues through the power of art.
Their latest production, Alma (#NoWall), tells the story of a woman, Alma, who crossed the border from Mexico while pregnant in hopes of obtaining the "American Dream" for her and her daughter on the way. Their life changes when December of 2016 rolls around and it's time for the presidential inauguration. The play has been selected for the Eugene O'Niell National Playwrights Conference and faces issues of immigration head on through Alma's eyes.
Performances of Alma run August 16 through September 1 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 PM. You can reserve free tickets online or collect them at the door.
Alma playwright Benjamin Benne shares more about Theatre Battery and the story of Alma.
