Seattle — When our energy isn't aligned, our body stresses out and creates health problems. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), or "tapping therapy", can help greatly reduce anxiety and calm us down. Like acupuncture, but without the needles, this technique re-aligns the energy points in our bodies and creates better pathways.
It starts with deep breathing. Take a few big deep breaths and give yourself a chance to calm down. From there tap on your forehead, at your inner eyebrow, a few times with both hands. Then move on to your temples, then under your eyes, then under your nose, under your chin and then on your collarbone. You can repeat these motions in order, focusing on the thing that's stressing you out, until you have fully calmed down and released that stressor.
Dr. Joseph Weiss joined New Day to talk about how this simple tapping creates a relaxing effect that can reduce PTSD and the anxiousness we face in our everyday lives.
