SEATTLE — We were saddened to hear of the death of local filmmaker Lynn Shelton on Friday 5/15. Reporter Kim Holcomb had the privilege of interviewing her several times and said, "Speechless over the death of Lynn Shelton. Immensely talented and a lovely human, she always advocated to Seattle in her films and life." We republish this article from 2019 in honor of her life and commitment to Independent Film and the Pacific Northwest.
Lynn Shelton's new film "Sword of Trust" will premiered opening night at the 2019 Seattle International Film Festival. The film centers around two women as they try and pawn an antique sword left behind by one character's deceased grandfather. They discover the sword is at the center of conspiracy theories about the Civil War, and team up with a pawn shop owner and his eccentric employee to sell it to the highest bidder.
Along the way, the film addresses conspiracy theories, fake news, and southern disillusionment. Shelton and Actor Marc Maron join New Day Northwest to talk more about the film.
