Talking with Hockey Hall of Famer Ron Francis about taking the reigns of NHL Seattle

Ron Francis has been named the rising team's first General Manager - and he comes with heavy-duty hockey credentials, as well as a depth of management experience.

SEATTLE — Seattle's new NHL team is steadily taking shape, as we watch construction at KeyArena and changes at the site of what will be the team's headquarters in Northgate. The latest step was to introduce Ron Francis as the team's new General Manager - and he comes with heavy-duty hockey credentials, as well as a depth of management experience.

Ron played 23 stellar years in the NHL, starting with the Hartford Whalers in the 1980s. He's a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins (in 1991 and 1992) and has won NHL awards for his playing skills, as well as his humanitarian work off the ice. In 2007, Ron was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Ron sat down with us to talk about his prestigious hockey career, his vision for the new team, including what types of players he's scouting, and his passion for giving back to whichever community he calls home.
