On July 4 at Seattle Center, over 500 people originating from around the world became U.S. citizens after reciting the Pledge of Allegiance together at a naturalization ceremony. To share her story and talk about the process of becoming a citizen of the United States is Fumiko David, who originates from Japan and took part in the 4th of July naturalization ceremony.
She has lived in the United States for 30 years before deciding to go through the process of becoming an American citizen. A monumental moment for her, she says, is when she successfully gave birth to her twin daughters thanks to the healthcare decisions made by American doctors. She is grateful, and calls the United States her home after growing roots here for the last three decades.
