GRAHAM, Wash. — Twice a year, for the last three years and counting, first responders at Graham Fire and Rescue have helped one local teen live out his dream.
Jayden Samoeun has always been passionate about fire service, but it wasn't until Graham Fire and Rescue showed him the ropes that he got to experience what it felt like to be one of them.
Since the year he turned 15, Samoeun has done a ride-along with the station to kick off every birthday and new school year.
Samoeun isn't the only one getting something out of this experience.
"Being around him was a huge slap in the face of, 'wow, we really do have the best job,'" one firefighter told said, adding that they talk to Samoeun daily.
When asked why he likes the fire service so much, Samoeun's eyes lit up. "Because it's cool! And it's awesome to ride on the fire truck," he said.
Samoeun enthusiastically follows the ins and outs of most of the fire calls in and around Pierce County.
