It's humans' first look at Jupiter from orbit.
The spacecraft Juno beamed back a stunning photo of the gas giant, complete with the famed Big Red Spot. The planet is surrounded by three of its four largest moons.
The photo was taken July 5, 2.7 million miles from Jupiter.
Juno will circle our solar system's largest planet 37 times, soaring to within 2,600 miles of the tops of Jupiter's clouds. Juno will probe beneath the obscuring cloud cover of Jupiter and study its auroras to learn more about the planet's origins, structure, atmosphere and magnetosphere.
