SEATTLE — A popular California-based fried-chicken chain has announced it will open over a dozen locations in the Seattle area and several others in Spokane as it continues its expansion out of the Golden State.
Starbird Chicken, known for not using antibiotics and using "fresh, never frozen chicken," plans to open 15 restaurants in the Seattle area and two in Spokane, per an announcement earlier this week. No specific locations or dates were included, but the release indicates the company hopes to have its first locations open in 2025.
"Starbird's incredible growth reflects the demand for high-quality, chef-driven fast food that resonates with today's consumers," said Aaron Noveshen, founder and CEO of Starbird in a release. "Vin and Rohit Mehta bring a powerful combination of operational expertise and a genuine passion for community engagement. We're confident they'll establish Starbird as a beloved brand in Washington and help us continue setting a new standard in fast food."
Starbird currently has 16 locations across California, and recently announced expansion into the Denver market as well.
Founded in 2016, Starbird says its vision is to "re-invent the traditional fast food experience." Starbird Chicken is hand-breaded in a "propietary gluten-free flour blend."
Its menu includes salads, tenders, sandwiches, nuggets, wings, and sides along with 11 house-made sauces. Any item can also be substituted with Gardenbird, a plant-based protein. Available sides include truffle fries, Nashville hot fries, rainbow slaw, and churros.
Starbird joins a number of other chicken chains expanding into the Seattle area, including El Pollo Loco, Crimson Coward, Raising Cane's, and Jollibee.
