Seattle eatery makes New York Times' 50 best restaurants of 2024 list

The Beacon Hill spot is known for its burger and selection of "pan-Pacific cuisine."

SEATTLE — A Beacon Hill eatery just found itself amongst an exclusive list from The New York Times.

Familyfriend, located on Beacon Avenue South, was included in the outlet's "The Restaurant List 2024," featuring what it considers 50 of the best places to dine in the United States.

"It’s never a bad idea to start with a killer burger. And Familyfriend’s version — a paragon of the smashed double-cheese form plied heavily with Kewpie mayo, chopped pickles and onion — is already getting national renown. This Seattle newcomer describes itself as a “Vibe Dispensary on Beacon Hill,” but lucky for the neighborhood, it doesn’t stop at burgers and vibes," reads part of The New York Times' section on the restaurant.

Familyfriend's burger was also named one of the best in America by The Infatuation in June, and the restaurant has only been open since 2023.

Chef Elmer Dulla hails from Guam originally and The New York Times describes Familyfriend's menu as "pan-Pacific."

The review also mentions Familyfriend's chicken adobo tacos and fried-to-order Typhoon Donuts as standout items on the menu.

Familyfriend is open daily from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Beacon Hill restaurant isn't the only in Seattle to receive some national acclaim recently. Sohpon in north Seattle was named one of America's best new restaurants by Bon Appétit for its Cambodian cuisine and unique beverage program.
