SEATTLE — Eight Washington restaurants were announced as finalists Wednesday for the annual James Beard Awards, honoring the best of America's "culinary and food media industries."
Quynh-Vy and Yenvy Pham are finalists for the Outstanding Restaurateur category for their Seattle-based restaurants Phở Bắc Súp Shop, Phởcific Standard Time, and The Boat. The Phams were among the top candidates for Outstanding Restaurateur in 2023.
The James Beard Foundation named Janet Becerra (Pancita in Seattle) as a finalist for Emerging Chef, while Avery Adams (Matia Kitchen in Orcas Island), Kristi Brown (Communion in Seattle) and Melissa Miranda (Musang in Seattle) are vying for the award as Best Chef in the Northwest and Pacific region.
Bar Bacetto in Waitsburg, Washington is among the finalists for Best New Restaurant, according to the James Beard Foundation.
The winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on June 10 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Fourteen restaurants and/or individual chefs were named semi-finalists for the James Beard Awards in late January, most of which are located in Seattle with a few scattered around western and central Washington.
