Marysville Woman to compete in Nathan's 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest

This year's contest will also feature competitors from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Japan, Korea and the United Kingdom.

CONEY ISLAND, N.Y. — On Wednesday, competitors in the 2024 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest weighed in, and one of them is from Washington State.

Forty-one-year-old Katie Prettyman is a competitor from Marysville. She is ranked #23 in the world by Major League Eating with a personal best of 16 hot dogs and buns.

This year's contest will also feature competitors from all over the world including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Japan, Korea and the United Kingdom.

This year's contest also marks the first without longtime champion Joey Chestnut.

The Fourth of July competition dates back to 1916 and takes place outside Nathan's flagship in Coney Island. A total of 15 men and 14 women will compete to take home a $20,000 cash prize and the Yellow Mustard Belt.
