Made in Washington encourages shopping local for Mother's Day

Several local artisans and small businesses are offering new products and gift boxes ahead of Mother's Day.

SEATTLE — As Mother's Day approaches, people may start looking for the right gift for the mother figure in their lives.

For the special day on Sunday, May 12, Made in Washington (MIW) is encouraging consumers to shop local.

MIW President Kristin Frossmo said any shift in shopping local makes an impact for small businesses and fellow Washingtonians. Frossmo said it's about getting more shoppers to find these handmade products.

MIW has three brick and mortar locations inside Pike Place Market, Alderwood Mall and Bellevue Square.

There is also an option to shop online.

On Saturday, Frossmo stopped by the KING 5 studios to show a few gift ideas for Mother's Day including new gift box sets featuring several local artisans and companies.
