“I think it's more of an experience,” says owner Jolie McNulty. “They come for three hours. They paint a super cute sign and they take it home.”
McNulty started her make and take workshop after years of painting furniture. Her first sign kind of was a sign.
“I sold about 30 or 40 of these “All the Stockings Were Hung” signs and I used the money from these signs to purchase my sign making machine and here we are!
With an instructor always at hand, The Makery makes sign making nearly foolproof. By using quick to dry chalk paint, a blow dryer just in case, and
easy to peel stencils --some brushwork here, a little dabbing there, plus a few personal touches--and you've got something you'd be proud to hang in your house.
“We've had such an incredible response from the community,” says McNulty. “We started out in a little 300 square foot store just to see if there was any interest and we were selling out classes like crazy.”
No matter what your sign says, it's a sure sign that everybody looks like a talented sign painter when they make their signs at The Makery.
