WASHINGTON, USA — As part of a major national consolidation plan, Advance Auto Parts will close 9 of its Seattle-area locations.
Company executives announced Thursday the company plans to close hundreds of stores over the next several years as business failed to meet expectations set by investors ahead of a quarterly earnings report.
Per a worker adjustment and retraining notification (WARN), Advance Auto Parts is laying off 100 workers from those locations.
Advance Auto Parts locations in Seattle, Tacoma, Lakewood, Auburn, Bellevue, Burien, Federal Way, Kent and Puyallup are set to close. The WARN notice states layoffs will begin on Feb. 26.
Overall, more than 500 retail locations, as well as four distribution centers are expected to close over a three-year period. About 204 independent store locations would also leave the franchise, meaning they would lose the Advance Auto Parts branding and become independent.
Advance Auto Parts shares have declined 33% since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 27% in the last 12 months.
At the start of 2024, Advance Auto Parts had 4,786 stores across the U.S.
