BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue-based online marketplace OfferUp has laid off 22% of its employees, the company confirmed to KING 5 Thursday.

The announcement went out to employees on Wednesday, the company told KING 5. Though the company confirmed 22% of its workforce, it would not share specifics on the exact number or which of its departments were impacted. The company had 483 "associated members" listed on its LinkedIn page Thursday morning.

A company spokesperson shared a statement with KING 5 about this decision.

At OfferUp, we’re dedicated to helping individuals and businesses of all kinds come together to get more of what they need closer to home. To sustain that mission, we also recognize the need to build a strong, resilient business that can continue to profitably grow through changing marketing dynamics.

As we recalibrate to align our resources to our most critical priorities in 2025 and beyond, we’ve made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce. This decision enables us to continue investing in our ongoing transition from a local items marketplace to a comprehensive platform for local classifieds and connections.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our impacted team members and will provide support through their transition, including severance and career assistance. We will continue to prioritize the wellbeing of our colleagues as we work to enhance the OfferUp experience for our diverse community of users, business customers, and partners.

The company was founded in 2011.
