SEATTLE — Expedia will lay off more than 200 employees in Seattle and more globally as it restructures, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing.
The SEC filing revealed that Seattle-based Expedia will lay off 1,500 employees globally, costing $80 to $100 million in employee severance and compensation benefits. The filing said the layoffs come as a restructuring and recalibration of the company's resources
According to the Washington state's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, 208 Seattle employees will be impacted by the layoffs, with a separation date of May 1.
An Expedia spokesperson told KING 5, "While this review will result in the elimination of some roles, it also allows the company to invest in core strategic areas for growth."
