North Seattle breakfast staple Patty's Eggnest closes doors

Patty's Eggnest, a locally owned and family-operated diner, known for its giant scrambles and Swedish pancakes, abruptly closed its Crown Hill location this week.

SEATTLE — A North Seattle breakfast staple closed its doors at one of its two locations this week, with the other expected to close in the future.

Patty's Eggnest, a locally owned and family-operated diner, known for its giant scrambles and Swedish pancakes, abruptly closed its Holman Road location in Crown Hill this week. The owner of the location told KING 5 that the closure is permanent and that a Pilates studio will take over.

Patty's Eggnest's Northgate location has long been slated for closure due to redevelopment of the property. The Seattle City Council rezoned the parcel of land to a different tier of neighborhood commercial, allowing the redevelopment of affordable housing. The land use permit for redevelopment was approved in 2023. The property is currently waiting on construction permits.

The redevelopment will transform the property into a seven-story 184-unit apartment building with retail space and 88 parking spaces. The existing buildings, which include Patty's Eggnest and a Jiffy Lube, are slated for demolition.

A Patty's Eggnest location in Wallingford also closed its doors recently. Patrons commented on Reddit that the abrupt closure came as a shock and expressed confusion about the future of the restaurants.

Patty's Eggnest has been operating since 1999.
