Washington businesses team up for college care packages to send 'reminders of homes'

Made in Washington encouraged people to send their loved ones away at school with some tastes, scents and reminders of home while supporting small businesses.

SEATTLE — With students back on their college campuses and possibly abroad it may be time to send them some reminders of their home state.

Made in Washington (MIW) encouraged people to send gifts to their loved ones from local businesses.

While there are great gift basket ideas online from various websites, MIW President Kristin Frossmo recommends browsing its site to see a variety of items that will not only give a reminder of home but also support the local economy.

Because snacks are "in high demand" for most college students Frossmo shared several recommendations. Frossmo recommended other items including reed diffusers, candles, chocolate, a Washington-themed tote, coffee, and clothing.

Frossmo said shoppers can choose the "Design Your Own" gift set by visiting an MIW store or going to this link.
