SEATTLE -- In an extreme example of how hot the Seattle housing market is these days, a home that will have to be torn down because it's in such disrepair was sold for $427,000.
The home built in 1951 is in West Seattle's North Admiral neighborhood.
The Seattle Times reports the home's floors are crumbling, and the air inside is toxic. The couple who owned it reportedly lived with the house under poor conditions for more than a decade before they died a couple of years ago.
Windermere listed the home for $200,000, but the Times reports real estate agents received 41 offers in ten days. A local firm that rehabs houses bought it for more than double asking price.
Listing agent Bruce Phares told the Times he considers it an unwise investment.
