‘Barefoot Bandit’ won’t be released from probation early, judge rules

The “Barefoot Bandit” will have to serve out the last five months of his probation after a judge denied his request to end it early.

A federal judge has denied the request of a man called the “Barefoot Bandit” to be taken off probation early.

Colton Harris-Moore, now 28, asked a judge last month to end his probation five months early so he could become a motivational speaker. He had argued it would help him pay off $1.34 million he owes in restitution.

In 2012, Harris-Moore was sentenced to seven years in prison for a series of crimes he committed barefoot, including 100 thefts in Washington, Idaho, and Canada. Investigators believe he stole bikes, vehicles, and speed boats to get around.

Harris-Moore was captured after he crash-landed a plane he stole in Indiana and flew to the Bahamas.
