Best of Western Washington: Best Local Podcast

The Barbershop wins for Best Local Podcast in the Best of Western Washington viewers' poll.
Evening Magazine's Jim Dever presents the hosts of The Barbershop with the Best of Western Washington Award for Best Local Podcast.

SEATTLE - He left the NFL after 10 seasons, but Tacoma's Marcus Trufant is still in the game.

"I got a little bit of time on my hands, so I was like, sure," said Trufant.

The former Seahawk talks sports every week with two of his best friends and thousands of listeners.

"You know, we were friends before we got in here," said Trufant. "Now that we get on the microphone, I think it just comes out naturally."

Marcus, Gee Scott and Terry Hollimon are the hosts of The Barbershop, a half-hour podcast they record weekly at the studios of KIRO radio.

"We have been slowly pulling the crazy out of Marcus Trufant," said Hollimon.

Trufant siad, "We say all the time that we aren't pros at this thing, but we have a lot of fun with it, and we make it happen."

Scott concurred, "Have no idea what we're doing."

"No clue," said Hollimon. "We're just winging it."

The show gets its name from the sort of neighborhood hangouts where conversation flows freely. But The Barbershop is more than just a show. Marcus and his friends say it's a movement.

"We're really speaking for the people," said Hollimon.

So, if you're looking for Marcus Trufant, you can find him at The Barbershop. Western Washington's choice for Best Local Podcast.
