A fundraiser in Puyallup Thursday night brought people together to raise money for fallen officer Diego Moreno's family.

Moreno, an eight-year veteran of the Kent Police Department, was killed during a vehicle pursuit on July 22. According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Moreno is among 91 officers who died in the line of duty this year. He leaves behind his wife, Shelly, and their two young kids.

A group of officers' wives from Kent attended the "Paint It Forward' fundraiser at Pinot's Palette in Puyallup Thursday.

"It's important for us to be here because this is showing our support. One, we are having fun. We are together which Diego would have wanted. And two, this is supporting Shelly and her kids for their future too," said Karina Wheeler.

"I think people want to contribute," said owner Heidi Leonard, who is donating $15 of every ticket sold and 25% of bar sales from the event.

On Friday, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Airways Taproom and Brewery is hosting a brats and beer fundraiser for the fallen officer's family. It is located at 8611 South 212th Street. A donation box is already set up inside the Kent brewery.

"One gentleman came in yesterday, not even to grab a beer. He just came here simply to put in a donation," said employee Nichole Meier.

On Saturday, from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Cutter's Point Coffee in Kent, they are donating all sales and tips. It is located at 25246 Pacific Highway South.

Officer Moreno was a regular customer, and the coffee shop's owners wanted to do something to help his family.

Donations to the Diego Moreno Memorial Fund are being accepted at US Bank locations.
