KING 5 needs your help to raise 24 million meals for Home Team Harvest, Washington state’s largest annual food drive. All funds and donations will go to Northwest Harvest, the state’s largest hunger relief agency. The nonprofit distributes food to every county in Washington, working with a statewide network of 400 food banks, meal programs, and schools.
Since the year 2001, Home Team Harvest has raised more than 100 million meals. Last year, our community rallied to raise 23 million meals, and we're aiming to help even more of our neighbors in 2024.
This campaign runs over the course of two months, ending on Dec. 31, and includes a food and funds drive on Sunday, Nov. 24.

Buy a grocery card
From Oct. 26 through Dec. 31, donate $5, $10 or $12 towards grocery cards at your local Safeway store.
Donations towards grocery cards will provide much-needed funding that will be distributed to Northwest Harvest and their partner programs across Washington. Grocery cards give clients the flexibility to visit their local Safeway store to purchase the items that are most important or most needed by them and their families.
Why your donations matter
According to the USDA, an estimated 9.5% of households face food insecurity in Washington state. Households with children; Black, Indigenous and people of color households; and households who identify as transgender, non-binary, or other reach the highest levels of food insecurity.
Every donation provides nutritious food to children, seniors, veterans, and families throughout Washington and ensures Northwest Harvest can work with partners in our community to address systemic root causes of hunger.
Northwest Harvest recognizes that it takes more than food to end hunger. By addressing the root causes of poverty AND getting food where it is most needed, they are working to end food insecurity in our state and create a more equitable food system for all Washingtonians.
