Argument between roommates leads to deadly shooting in Bonney Lake

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said the suspect and one of the victims were roommates and had an argument leading up to the shooting.

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. — One person is dead and another was injured when a shooting broke out during an argument among roommates Saturday night, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department (PCSD).

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 7:20 p.m. at a residence in the 11100 block of 166th Avenue East in Bonney Lake. The caller told 911 there was a deceased person in the home.

Deputies were reportedly flagged down by one of the victims, a 22-year-old man while arriving at the scene. Inside the residence, deputies found a 23-year-old man with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies detained the 22-year-old suspect at the scene before he was transported to the hospital for a graze wound. The PCSD said once the suspect is medically cleared, he will booked into Pierce County Jail under investigation of second-degree murder.

The PCSD said the suspect and the 23-year-old victim were roommates and had an argument leading up to the shooting. The 22-year-old victim did not live at the residence and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
