1 killed, another injured in Covington homicide, officials say

Officials found two males in their late teens with life-threatening gunshot wounds in an apartment complex parking garage.

COVINGTON, Wash. — The King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is investigating a homicide after a man in his late teens was killed in Covington early Sunday morning.

Another man in his late teens is in serious condition in the ICU at Harborview Medical Center, according to a spokesperson for UW Medicine.

Deputies said several 911 calls came in around 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

Tenants in the Station by Vintage apartments, located on SE Wax Road, told KING 5 first responders made the gruesome discovery on the parking garage's third floor.

Deputies said they found two males in their late teens with life-threatening gunshot wounds. One victim was taken to the ICU, while the other was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the KCSO.

Investigators believe a physical confrontation happened before the gunfire. Detectives said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The incident comes as more kids and teens were killed in King County by gun violence this year, than in all of 2023.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact KCSO detectives by calling 911 or the KCSO non-emergency line at 206-296-3311.
