'It's unbelievable': 11-year-old among trio arrested in connection to Seattle convenience store robberies

In addition to the child, a 19-year-old and 21-year-old were also arrested and they are being held on $400,000 bail.

SEATTLE — Two adults and a child appeared in court this afternoon in connection to a string of convenience store robberies in Seattle. One of the suspects believed to be captured on video holding a rifle is just 11 years old, according to police

Convenience store owner Pawan Deep Singh is still processing the fact that a child is accused of holding up two of his employees at gunpoint.

“Yeah I know it’s unbelievable, the new generation I don’t know what they’re doing,” Singh said.

Seattle police believe the same trio is behind a series of convenience store robberies over an hour-and-a-half Friday morning – from Georgetown to West Seattle. The thieves were not deterred by the dozens of cameras inside this Georgetown shell station.

Saturday night, according to court documents, police tracked the crew to a Hyundai driving near Tukwila, and when they tried to pull the vehicle over, they took off, leading police to this intersection in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood.

One of the suspects, the 11-year-old boy, even appeared to be wearing the same jacket. All three were arrested late Saturday night and a judge found probable cause to hold them in custody over the weekend.

Photos taken during a robbery and at the time of arrest appear to show the 11-year-old suspect wearing the same sweatshirt.

Monday afternoon, the 19- and 21-year-old men faced a judge who, in separate motions, set both their bails at $400,000. Both men are being held on four counts of robbery. A juvenile court judge ruled that the 11-year-old will also remain in custody.

As for Singh’s convenience store, they never missed a beat – and are hoping the child and young men are still able to change course.

“Maybe they can learn something for the future,” Singh said.
