LAKEWOOD, Wash. — One man was killed and two other people were injured after an exchange of gunfire at a Lakewood intersection on Sunday night.
Lakewood Police Department officers are still investigating what led up to the shooting. An initial report indicated that two cars pulled up to the intersection of 33rd Avenue South and 82nd Street South near the Monta Vista neighborhood and began shooting at each other.
One of the cars, a dark colored truck, fled the scene. All of the victims were inside the other car, a white van.
All three people who were shot were taken to the hospital. A man in his 30s later died. The two other people have non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Lakewood police previously said four people were found shot in the car.
Marquis Johnson, whose home was hit by bullets, heard "what sounded like fireworks" initially before realizing it was gunfire. Bullets went through two of Johnson's windows, causing damage inside the home.
"It was just a bunch of gunshots going everywhere," Johnson said.
JJ, who lives in Lakewood but did not provide a last name to KING 5, estimated more than 100 gunshots were fired in less than a minute.
Johnson said there were a lot of people in the area, including children.
