Two in custody after pursuit of bank robbery suspect ends on I-90 on Mercer Island

The robbery occurred in North Bend at SnoFalls Credit Union on Jan. 26.

MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — Two 15-year-olds are in custody after a pursuit of a bank robbery suspect ended in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 on Mercer Island Friday afternoon.

The incident temporarily blocked all westbound lanes. At least three lanes were open by 3:30 p.m. The road was fully clear by just after 4 p.m.

There are no known injuries.

The incident began after a robbery at a SnoFalls Credit Union in the North Bend Premium Outlets around 3 p.m., according to the Snoqualmie Police Department. One of the suspects gave a note to a teller. It's currently unknown if the suspect had a weapon or it was implied.

North Bend police, which is serviced by the Snoqualmie Police Department, were the first to respond to the robbery. When officers arrived, they saw on suspect running from the credit union into a getaway car - a stolen Kia.

A pursuit began and led police westbound on I-90 into Bellevue and Mercer Island.

The suspects caused a three-car crash near Factoria while they fled, according to police.

King County Sheriff deputies assisted and was able to PIT the vehicle.
