'Belltown Hellcat' driver arrested on $50,000 Renton warrant

Miles Hudson is back in jail in connection to an assault charge out of Renton.

RENTON, Wash. — The infamous driver of the "Belltown Hellcat" is back behind bars, this time in connection to a warrant over an assault case out of Renton.

Miles Hudson was taken into custody Tuesday evening and booked into the South Correctional Entity Jail in Des Moines. The jail roster shows he remains in custody as of 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A $50,000 warrant was issued for Hudson earlier this month after he failed to appear in a Renton court for a case involving an alleged domestic assault on his mother.

Renton police shared a video of officers arresting Hudson, and the department said it is "identifying, locating, and arresting higher warrant-value domestic violence suspects" during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The Renton criminal case is unrelated to Hudson's two active cases in Seattle. One is related to reckless driving charges over his allegedly driving over 100 mph through downtown Seattle. The other is stalking and sharing intimate images charges after he allegedly shared sexual videos of an ex-partner over Instagram and harassed that ex-partner.

He was briefly jailed in Seattle in mid-October after a judge found Hudson had repeatedly violated the release conditions in his criminal cases. Hudson had not communicated consistently with the company responsible for administering his electronic home monitoring, and was had left his apartment numerous times without permission.

Per court records, Hudson's public defender, Emma Rekart, withdrew from representing him on Monday. A new public defender, Nicole Teague, is now overseeing his case according to court documents. Despite having a public defender on the stalking and sharing intimate images case, Hudson also has a private attorney on the reckless driving case, Sheley Anderson.

Hudson also still owes the city of Seattle over $80,000 after a default judgment was awarded when he was sued over his controversial vehicle's violations of the noise ordinances.

He is next due in a Seattle court on Nov. 4 in the stalking and sharing intimate images case.
