SEATTLE — The young man who drives the infamous "Belltown Hellcat" was taken into custody after a court hearing in Seattle Monday morning.
Miles Hudson, 21, appeared before a judge on two different outstanding criminal cases: one related to reckless driving charges levied against him for allegedly speeding through downtown Seattle and stalking charges related to alleged sharing of an intimate video of an ex-romantic partner through Instagram.
As he has in previous hearings, Hudson arrived with cloth covering his face and head. Hudson told the court the head covering is for religious reasons but did not elaborate on what beliefs.
The proceedings began with Hudson being told to take down videos he had posted to social media from the gallery of the court room as observed by police officers who were seated next to him.
Hudson had a public defender in court with him physically and a private attorney who joined the court virtually. They argued that Hudson had complied with all of his conditions of release in these cases, and his counsel also said they could provide proof to the court that Hudson's "Belltown Hellcat" was now in compliance with the city's orders.
The judge denied the defense's request for release on personal recognizance, citing his past domestic violence arrest.
The judge set bail at $5,000 for the stalking case and set him on electronic home monitoring if he does post bail. Hudson is not allowed to post on his srt.miles Instagram account or his Twitch account as part of his release conditions.
$2,500 bail was given in the reckless driving case, and Hudson was ordered not to operate the vehicle on any public roadway in Washington.
Hudson was taken into custody at the conclusion of the hearing by marshals in the courtroom.
