EVERETT, Wash. — A child that was inside a vehicle when it was stolen in Everett was found safe Monday afternoon.
According to police, the 3-year-old's father got out of the vehicle to withdraw money from an ATM when the suspect got in the car, drove it for a block and abandoned it.
The child's father told KING 5 he had just picked up his daughter from daycare and went to the bank to get money to send to his parents.
"When I parked, I left the windows open - because of the heat we're having - for my daughter," he said. "I go to the ATM and ... I turn to see behind me and I don't see my car. My car is gone."
"I was scared," he continued. "I asked a woman that was there if she had seen my car because my daughter was inside. She was scared too and said no, she hadn't seen it."
He told KING 5 he called the police immediately.
"I was very scared, very scared. Not for my car, but for my daughter."
Police are working on a description of the suspect.
No arrested have been made.
No injuries were reported.
