One dead after shooting on Metro bus in Des Moines

The shooting occurred around 2:20 p.m. after an altercation on a bus serving the Rapid Ride A Line.

DES MOINES, Wash. — One person is dead after an altercation on a King County Metro bus led to a shooting in Des Moines Monday afternoon. 

The shooting occurred around 2:20 p.m. on the bus serving the Rapid Ride A Line at Pacific Highway South near South 216th Street. The suspect remains on the loose, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. 

According to the sheriff's office, an altercation occurred between the suspect and victim before the shooting. Details on what led up to the altercation are under investigation.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center where they later died.

There were about 40 people on the bus at the time of the altercation, according to King County Metro. No other injuries were reported.
