SEATTLE — A 62-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into a building in north Seattle earlier this month.
The crash occurred on Aug. 10 just before 6:30 p.m. Police say officers responded at 6:23 p.m. to a building near the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and North 93rd Street. Witnesses told police the driver crossed all lanes of Aurora before hitting a lumber warehouse and hitting a wall stacked with paint.
Officers say they removed the passenger of the vehicle from the building after they broke the glass door with a chair and "nearly assaulted a fireman."
Seattle Fire Department personnel eventually entered the building and extracted the driver. He was treated for minor injuries at the scene and transported to Harborview Medical Center pending a DUI search warrant for his blood. Police at the scene suspected he was under the influence of narcotics, according to the Seattle Police Department release.
The driver was eventually arrested and booked into King County Jail. The vehicle was towed and police say the business suffered "thousands of dollars' worth" of damage.
