SEATTLE — A West Seattle staple is dealing with extensive damage from two different incidents that happened in three days.
Easy Street Records dealt with a flood and a break-in.
"Records, records and more sections and understock, we've uncovered so many ruined records now," said Wyatt Pinto, Easy Street Records weekend manager.
It's been a difficult weekend for Easy Street Records this weekend.
"We're dealing with that, and all of this,” Pinto said. “So, it's kind of a lot right now."
Staff said a Friday night flood damaged between 8,000 to 10,000 records. The store estimated it was worth more than $100,000
The flood was caused by a busted pipe from the apartment above the store.
"That whole section, all of that right there,” Pinto said. “I think the water also funneled down got right here."
The water made its way to the first floor.
“Our entire metal section, our entire classical section, pretty much our entire electronic section, a ton of our jazz records, a lot of our world records, the whole blues section is gone. And we're still figuring out what else is gone," Pinto said.
To make things worse, staff said a woman broke one of the store's windows on Sunday morning.
"Everyone is a little on edge," Pinto said. "I think it will probably be like that for a good while. We need to win."
"It's even more reason for people to come out and show their support and buy some vinyl," Joshua Scott said.
Scott is a longtime customer. He and his daughter have been coming to the store at least twice a month for the last six years.
"I want to thank them for always being here,” Scott said. “It's a really important part of time for my daughter and myself. But what this place means to us is a lot."
And it means a lot for the staff to keep the store open during these hard times.
“We love West Seattle," Pinto said. "We love Seattle. I think that moments like this bring people together and I think that that hopefully is what it's going to do for us."
