SWAT called in after suspect allegedly fires shots at Everett police; suspect in custody

Police officers returned fire at the man, but it's unknown if he was struck before retreating back into a house. He was arrested before midnight.

EVERETT, Wash. — Police were able to arrest a man who allegedly fired shots at Everett officers and retreated into a house, initiating a standoff, Wednesday.

Police officers responded to a report of a weapon discharge in the 11400 block of Paine Field Way around 12:30 p.m. They tried to make contact with the man after he came out of the house, but he fired at them, according to the Everett Police Department.

Officers returned fire. It's currently unknown if the suspect was struck.

No officers were hit.

A SWAT team responded to the scene. Law enforcement confirmed they arrested the suspect before midnight.

112th Street Southwest was closed from Airport Road to Evergreen Way and Paine Field Way was closed entirely during the standoff. Both roads have since reopened.
