Homicide investigation underway after man dies following car crash in Federal Way

A man was found in a vehicle with "life-threatening injuries" and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Police in Federal Way are investigating after a man died following a car crash early Thursday morning.

Federal Way police responded to the Avana Star Lake Apartments just after 1 a.m. to reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, police say they found a vehicle that had crashed into several others.

A man "in his late 20s or early 30s" was found inside the vehicle with "life-threatening injuries." The man was eventually pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not confirm whether the victim had been shot.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide. Police say they are actively looking for possible suspects and witnesses to the crash and subsequent death.

Some residents of the apartment complex told KING 5 that they were not able to exit the parking lot while police had caution tape up and were investigating Thursday morning.
