SHORELINE, Wash. — KING 5 has obtained new surveillance footage that appears to show a 50-year-old woman being shot moments after she tried to break up a fight between teenagers.
The footage captured the deadly encounter in the Ballinger Homes apartment complex in Shoreline on May 18.
A tower-mounted camera captured a dispute between two groups of teens. One teenager, later identified as 16-year-old Jaden Taylor, a resident of the complex, is seen pulling out what appears to be a pistol and pointing at another teen.
Moments later, 50-year-old BillyJo Perkins, a neighbor who was walking her dog, tries to intervene. A scuffle then ensued and Perkins was shot and killed.
The state of Washington alleges Taylor shot the victim “three times at extremely close range.” Court documents reveal that one of the bullets also hit a teenage boy who was standing nearby.

"When you have evidence like this and allegations like this, we looked at it and pretty clearly thought that these charges were appropriate given what we believe can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt,” said the spokesperson of the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office told KING 5 in May.
The teen remains behind bars and is being held on $2 million bail. Prosecutors say he’s being charged as an adult in her killing.
