SEATTLE -- Hope Solo, the U.S. Women's National Team's star goalkeeper, has lost her latest bid to have domestic violence charges against her thrown out.
Solo was charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault for the June 2014 incident in which she allegedly beat up her sister and then-17-year-old nephew in Kirkland.
The case was thrown out of municipal court on procedural grounds, but prosecutors appealed, and the charges were revived last October.
Solo sought a discretionary review to get the charges thrown out again, but the state appeals court denied that Tuesday. Solo can still appeal the ruling to the Washington state Supreme Court.
Solo plays for the Seattle Reign FC of the National Women's Soccer League. She's also preparing for the Olympics in Rio. The U.S has won the last three women's soccer gold medals. Solo was in goal for the last two. She was also the goalkeeper for last year's World Cup champion team.
She is married to former Washington Husky and Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens.
Solo has made more news in the past few months, speaking up over concerns about the dangers of Zika at the Olympics. She's also joined fellow USWNT members in accusing U.S. Soccer of wage discrimination compared to the men's national team.
