Kent family searching for package that contained WWII heirlooms

UPS records show the driver thought they dropped the package “with the customer” in late June.

KENT, Wash. — A Kent family can’t put a dollar amount on the package they suspect was stolen from their front door. They’re now on a mission to make sure what’s inside is not lost to history.

On a back deck in Kent, the Glenn family flips through black-and-white photos.

“Oh yeah, he was a wonderful man, he was great,” Lorraine Glenn said.

Lorraine and her husband Earl were expecting a package, sent from a family member in California, that unbeknownst to them included medals and pictures related to the military service of World War II veteran Earl Glenn Sr.

That package included the American flag presented at Glenn Sr.’s funeral and the bronze star he earned while fighting overseas. A package sent to Lorraine and Earl by their nephew.

“He had sent it off and it was going to take a little bit because he had sent it ground – and so I didn’t worry about. And he called me and said, ‘what do you think?' We never received the package,” Lorraine said.

UPS records show the driver thought they dropped the package “with the customer” in late June. The Glenn family insists that did not happen.

“Then he started telling me about what was in the box and I’m going, oh my goodness, those are things can’t be replaced,” Lorraine Glenn said. “I would hope that they would try and get it back to us … right?”

The Glenn family said they simply want that package back. They don’t care about who took it or why. They’re even offering up a cash reward.
