KENT, Wash. — A man and a woman are in custody after a police chase that crisscrossed south King County Tuesday afternoon.
Kent police were sent to the 20900 block of 110 Avenue SE for reports of a stolen vehicle around 12:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found the Cadillac Escalade, which fled.
Police officers did not pursue the vehicle, citing state restrictions.
Guardian 1, the King County Sheriff's Office support helicopter, followed the vehicle.
The Cadillac also had an on-board GPS that transmitted a signal to law enforcement.
The driver of the Escalade, a 26-year-old Kent man, eventually got out and carjacked a Ford Expedition. The passenger in the Escalade, a 24-year-old Kent woman, got in the driver's seat and followed the Expedition, according to police.
Minutes later, the man abandoned the Expedition and carjacked a Subaru SUV.
Around 1 p.m., the stolen Subaru struck a vehicle near 232nd Street and Southeast Petrovitsky Road near Maple Valley. Officers caught up to the man and took him into custody.
The Escalade, still being driven by the woman, was involved in a rollover crash near the 20200 block of 148th Avenue SE in Kent. According to a high-ranking sheriff's office official, the Cadillac sideswiped a car before losing control. She fled on foot and was later found by a deputy a short distance away and taken into custody.
Both suspects were taken to hospitals and will be booked into jail once medically cleared.
The scene at Petrovitsky Road impacted pick-up operations at Tahoma High School. In a letter to parents, school officials said the intersection closure blocked some bus routes.
